How we can Help

Sometimes, no matter how well you eat or how hard you exercise, certain pockets of fat simply won’t budge. Fat dissolving injections offer a safe, non-surgical way to gently target those stubborn areas.

The treatment uses DesoFace and DesoBody — a solution of sodium deoxycholate — which is carefully injected into the fat with a fine needle or cannula. It works by breaking down the fat cells, which are then naturally cleared away by the body’s lymphatic system over the following weeks.

At Helen Hunt Medical Aesthetics, every treatment begins with a consultation to make sure it’s the right approach for you and your goals. Our practitioners will explain exactly what to expect and create a plan tailored to the areas you’d like to treat — always with natural-looking, balanced results in mind.

FAQs

They’re a non-surgical treatment that uses a solution (sodium deoxycholate) to break down stubborn fat cells, which your body then clears away naturally over the following weeks. We use DesoFace for the face and DesoBody for the body.

Local anaesthetic is added to the fat dissolving solution to reduce any discomfort, however there is likely to be some minor pain during the procedure and some tenderness for a few days afterwards. Most people describe this as minimal discomfort, and it does not tend to interfere with normal day to day activities. Painkillers can be taken following treatment if required. Like any invasive procedure it is important that your practitioner is experienced and medically qualified to perform injections safely and effectively. A full medical consultation will be given to ensure this treatment is suitable and safe for you.

The most commonly treated areas are the double chin, tummy, thighs, saddlebags, bottom, back and bra line, arms and knees. It can also treat lipomas (small fatty lumps under the skin). We’ll discuss the best areas for you at your consultation.

Downtime is minimal. It’s normal to have some redness, swelling and tenderness for a few days, and occasionally a little bruising that lasts a bit longer. Most people carry on with their day as usual, though we’ll give you full aftercare advice.

Results develop gradually. You may notice some change within the first few days, but the final result usually appears around six weeks after treatment, once your body has cleared the fat cells. More than one session is often needed for the best outcome.

We recommend avoiding sun exposure, sunbeds and vigorous exercise for the first few days. Gentle movement and light massage of the area can help, and for body treatments we strongly recommend wearing a compression garment during the first week. We’ll talk you through everything

Fat dissolving injections are ideal for small, stubborn pockets of fat in someone who is otherwise close to their target weight — they’re not a weight-loss treatment. As with all our treatments, we’ll always start with a consultation to make sure it’s right and safe for you.

Of course — we completely understand wanting an idea of costs before booking.

As many of our treatments are tailored to your individual needs, pricing can vary depending on the area being treated, the product used and the outcome you are hoping to achieve.

You can view our current price guide online, which gives a helpful starting point for many of our treatments. However, for more personalised advice, we would always recommend a consultation so we can discuss your goals and recommend the most suitable options for you.

If you’re unsure where to start, please do get in touch — our friendly team are always happy to help guide you in the right direction.
