What is Dry / Dehydrated Skin?

Dry and dehydrated skin are often used to mean the same thing, but they’re actually a little different — and knowing which one you’re dealing with makes all the difference to treating it well.

Dehydrated skin lacks water. It’s a condition rather than a skin type, which means anyone can experience it — even oily or combination skin — and it tends to come and go with the seasons, your lifestyle, hormones and the products you’re using. It typically leaves the skin feeling tight and looking dull, and it can make fine lines appear more noticeable simply because the skin isn’t as plump as it should be. Dry skin, on the other hand, lacks oil. It’s more of a long-term skin type, often feeling rough, flaky or easily irritated because the skin doesn’t produce enough natural oil to protect itself. Many people have a mix of both, which is why a tailored approach works best.

The reassuring part is that skin like this responds beautifully once it’s given the right support. With targeted hydrating treatments that replenish moisture from within, alongside a well-chosen skincare routine to strengthen the barrier and lock that hydration in, we can help restore comfort, plumpness and a healthy, dewy glow.

During your consultation, we’ll look at your skin properly, work out whether it’s dryness, dehydration or a combination of the two, and create a personalised plan that brings your skin back into balance.
