What are Enlarged Pores?

Enlarged or visible pores are one of the most common things people would love to change about their skin — and one of the most misunderstood. The truth is that pores are essential: they’re the tiny openings that release the skin’s natural oils. You can’t get rid of them, but you absolutely can refine how prominent they appear, once you understand what’s making them more visible.

A few things influence pore size. Genetics play a big part, as does how much oil your skin produces — oilier skin tends to have larger-looking pores, because the oil stretches and fills them. Sun exposure and the natural ageing process add to it too: as the skin gradually loses collagen and firmness, pores lose the support around them and can appear more open. Everyday build-up of oil, dead skin cells and make-up sitting in the pores makes them look larger still, which is why good skincare matters as much as any treatment.

The encouraging news is that texture and pore appearance respond really well to the right care. Treatments that stimulate collagen, deep-cleanse and resurface the skin can visibly tighten and refine the pores over time, leaving the complexion smoother, fresher and more even — never stripped or over-treated.

During your consultation, we’ll take a close look at your skin, work out what’s making your pores more noticeable, and put together a personalised plan to refine your texture and give your skin a smoother, more polished finish.
